Growing up surrounded by a musical backdrop, Travis, in the company of his four siblings and parents, became a versatile musician, proficient in multiple instruments. Together, they formed the Turpin Family Band, an ensemble that garnered attention from the U.S. government and secured a unique opportunity to perform in South Korea.

Following his graduation from the University of Nebraska, Travis went to New York City, collaborating with renowned figures such as Broadway legend Howard Keel, Country Music Hall of Famer Larry Gatlin, and choreographer Susan Stroman.
